Gymnosperms have seeds that aren't enclose in a fruit.
Gymnosperms are a group of plants with the following unique characteristics:
They do not have an outer covering or shell around their seeds.
They do not produce flowers.
They do not produce fruits.
They are pollinated by the wind.
Conifer's leaves have adapted so that the hot, and cold weather can't effect the water that is being moved all over the tree. Most cones are bearing like pine, spruce, and fir, but there are also the Cycads and Gikgo.

An advantage of having a cone, is that the cone protects the pollen and seed. Here are two pictures showing the parts of a male, and female cone.
The oldest tree, is roughly 9,550 years old. Its located in the Dalarna province of Sweden.
The tallest tree is 369 feet high. It's located in the Humboldt Redwoods State Park.
